The short version.

Phoenix Airlines is a hobby virtual airline built around Microsoft Flight Simulator. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it.

Information we collect

If you sign in with Discord or Google: we receive your account ID, display name or username, email address, and profile picture from that provider, so we can create or match you to a staff account. We never receive your password or anything else from those accounts.

If you sign in with an email and password instead: we store your email and a securely hashed password, never the password itself, not even in a form we could read back.

If you subscribe for email updates: we store your email address and which update categories you opted into. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link included in every email we send.

If you're crew: whatever you choose to add to your profile, such as a callsign, bio, avatar, screenshots, or external links, is stored and shown publicly only where you've explicitly turned that on. Flight log entries you submit (route, aircraft, a link to your Volanta flight report) are stored and may be shown publicly.

Standard web server logs: like effectively every website on the internet, our hosting automatically records basic technical details for each request, things like IP address, browser type, and timestamps, simply because that's how the web works. This is routine infrastructure logging, not a personal profile of you: it's used only for keeping the site running, secure, and free of abuse, and it is never sold, shared, or used for advertising.

How we use it

To run your account, show the site to you (and to others, only where you've opted in to being shown), send the emails you've actually asked for, keep the site secure, and, for staff, let you sign in and use whatever admin tools your role has access to.

Who we share it with

We don't sell data, and we don't run ad networks or third-party analytics or tracking scripts on this site. The only outside services involved are the ones that make the site function: Discord and Google (only if you choose to sign in with them, and they only ever learn that you're signing into this site, nothing more), our transactional email provider (to deliver the emails you've asked for), and our hosting provider (to run the site at all). None of them get to use your information for their own purposes.

Cookies

We use one cookie to keep you signed in. It identifies your session to this site and nothing else. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

Your account, and deleting it

You're in control of your account. From My Profile you can unsubscribe from emails, unlink a connected Discord or Google account, edit or remove your public profile, or delete your account outright. Requesting deletion disables your account immediately; it stays recoverable for 14 days in case you change your mind (just sign back in and cancel), and after that it is permanently and irreversibly deleted, along with your public profile, screenshots, and flight log entries. Root Admin and Super Admin accounts cannot be self-deleted, since those roles administer the site itself.

Kids

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone that age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
